EXPERT. PROFESSIONAL. SERVICE.

MY 33 YEARS IN THE EXOTIC PET INDUSTRY HAVE COME TO AN END

My store is now closed. I no longer offer anything to retail customers. I will continue to breed the species listed in the "Ongoing Projects" right sidebar of this page, but any offspring will be sold wholesale and only to legitimate resellers. Thanks to all of my arachnid and reptile customers over the years. Special thanks to those who have supported me over the past two and a half years and who purchased my personal specimens from my closeout list. Ongoing thanks to those who purchase the offspring from my breeding projects for resale.

I started selling tarantulas and reptiles professionally in 1982. By 1985 I was the reptile and small animal manager for a 20-plus store pet chain based in the Chicago area (Noah's Ark Pet Centers). Over the years I produced countless tarantulas, true spiders, snakes, geckos and frogs and my business had many incarnations in various locations around the country. While maintaining my own business I also ran other people's businesses, the last being my stint from 2007-2013 as general manager of Northwest Zoological Supply outside of Seattle, which also owns Tarantulas.com. I left there in February 2013 and relocated back to the Chicago area where I relaunched "Michael Jacobi's SPIDERSHOPPE". I began shutting down this business in August 2015 and it is now officially closed except to wholesale buyers of the offspring from the small number of tarantula species I will continue working with. I am now pursuing another passion by working in the firearms industry and re-inventing myself as a pistol instructor. My only other ongoing activities in arachnoculture will be my roles with the British Tarantula Society where I serve as North American Coordinator and Editor of its Journal, occasional entries in my Kiss My Big Hairy Spider blog and my tarantula database The Tarantula Biblography.

Best wishes to all of you, Michael Jacobi
