Brachionopus Pocock, 1897
currently in Theraphosidae but likely Barychelidae
To quote Platnick's World Spider Catalog v. 10, "transferred here from the Barychelidae by Raven, 1985 ... Raven's transfer was not accepted by Charpentier ... or Schmidt ... who nevertheless identified no close relatives of the genus among the known barychelids; Gallon ... argued for its inclusion in the Barychelidae but indicated that it 'does not fit in any current barychelid subfamily' and no transfer will be recorded here until a cladistic analysis of the position of this genus is published". In other words, it's taxonomy is in dispute and the most recent workers do not consider it a theraphosid. Because of this, and because it is of little interest to arachnoculturists, I will not bother including any more than a list of the species here. All are found in South Africa.
